Some office buildings are constructed with requirements for raised computer floors on most levels. The concrete base slab for such raised floors is generally required to have a flat, smooth finish but in many instances it is not considered necessary to power-float or power-trowel the surface of the base concrete. Such finishes can be obtained with a skip/bull-float or a contra-rotating screed. These techniques have led to an increased number of complaints concerning what is termed ‘reinforcement ripple’. This document reviews the problem and suggests solutions. PDF only available. 2003 - 2p
