Publications
The BCA Waterproofing Design Guide has been updated and now published by TBIC, to provide general guidance to BS8102:2009 (Code of practice for protection of below-ground structures against water from the ground) with respect to basements for dwellings. However, some of the guidance may also apply to deeper and larger basements.
As before it examines the factors to consider when deciding on the type of basement construction and waterproofing for new basements, and provides comment on existing structures. It still provides guidance on form and characteristics of the main categories of waterproofing: bonded sheet membranes, cavity drain membranes, bentonite clay active membranes, liquid-applied membranes, mastic asphalt, cementitious proprietary multi-coat renders, toppings and coatings, and cementitious crystallisation active systems. And contains information on soil characteristics and detailed illustrations relating to drainage, waterproofing and means of assessing risk. The suitability of the publication remains as: Designers, house-builders, self builders, water proofing industry.
