Cold joints are formed primarily between subsequent lifts of concrete where the placement of the overlying layer has been significantly delayed and the previously placed concrete has started to set. Cold joints may have serious structural consequences and should not be confused with pour lines (also referred to as lift lines), see Concrete Advice 62.
