Concrete has an inherent quantity of water within the mix from the time of batching. The majority of this water is not required to hydrate the cement but is needed to provide the consistence. Curing is the process of preventing the loss of moisture from the young concrete whilst maintaining a satisfactory temperature regime. To ensure that the full benefits of curing will be achieved, all concerned in concrete production (engineers, foremen, operatives) must clearly understand why and how the particular curing process is to be used.
