Provides practical guidance on helping to meet the relevant requirements in Schedule 1 to the Building Regulations with respect to the provision of basements to dwellings.
This 148 page Guidance Document is in the style of the previously published Approved Document – Basements for dwellings and its Addendum as previously published by the British Cement Association (BCA) and The Basement Information Centre (TBIC), and will provide practical guidance on helping to meet the relevant requirements in Schedule 1 to the Building Regulations 2010 (including amendment to 2013/14)with respect to the provision of basements to dwellings.
This Guidance Document provides guidance on the design and construction of basements for dwellings. It takes into account the effect on dwellings of including a basement and describes the means of meeting the relevant performance requirements of the Building Regulations. Each guidance clause in this Document will as in the previous AD be preceded by the Building Regulations Requirement (e.g. A1) to which the guidance relates.
This document also gives for consideration good practice for matters not directly or precisely covered by the Regulations, and which is identified by GP in the left-hand margin and the accompanying boxed italic text.
