There are many instances of exposed coarse aggregate on the surface of concrete which appear to be due to the proximity of water. At first glance this could be ascribed to the ability of moving water to remove the surface by simple abrasion. However this is generally not the most significant factor to the denudation of the surface. The following guidance outlines other contributory mechanisms related to water storage.
