Duration: 3 hours

Concrete cracks in both the plastic and hardened states and may often be summarily and unjustifiably condemned. Cracks will form when the tensile stress exceeds the tensile strength of the concrete. Effects will often be cumulative which can make diagnosis difficult and can have significant long-term consequences.

However, though the factors and concrete properties which influence cracks are variable, it is often possible to predict when and where non-structural cracks are likely to form and to limit them to acceptable levels by means of design and/or construction techniques.

The course is designed for all those involved in concreting operations.
