Due to a housing shortage after the Second World War, many propriety housing systems were developed. Some of these systems were of a prefabricated reinforced concrete design of which a significant number exist today. However due to problems experienced with materials and workmanship a national survey was carried out to identify, repair and certify these houses and provide assurance to mortgage lenders.
