In theory rain damage should be avoidable, but in practice it is extremely difficult to avoid rain damage on slabs because; the area around the pour may not be watertight at the time of construction, progress requirements mean that it is not generally possible to wait for settled dry weather and the changeable nature of the British climate.

This Concrete Advice sheet examines what can be done to minimise the risk of damage and what can be done if damage has already occurred.
