The provision of holes in reinforced concrete beams. PDF

Stock Status: In Stock

The requirement for casting or cutting holes in reinforced concrete beams is a common one, usually to allow for the passage of services. (Wherever possible the structure should be designed to include a service zone within the overall depth to minimise the need for holes for horizontal service runs.) However, even though this is a common situation faced by designers, the guidance available on the design and detailing of beams for such holes is limited and are not explicitly covered by Eurocode 2(1). The aim of this document is to provide designers with guidance on the provision of both vertical and horizontal holes through beams, both pre-formed and post-formed.
