Composite concrete and profiled steel decking is a popular form of construction for suspended floor slabs. This Technical Report is intended to provide clients, designers and contractors with detailed guidance on the safe and efficient construction of composite floor slabs. The 10 sections cover floor surface requirements including finishes, regularity and where propped construction may be necessary, as well as the practical aspects of materials choice, construction and maintenance.
It is not intended to provide design methodology as this is adequately covered in BS EN 1994-1-1 Eurocode 4 and is complementary to the Steel Construction Institute’s PCI P300 publication.
