The series Appearance Matters, published in its original format as nine booklets between 1980 and 1982 by the former Cement and Concrete Association and reprinted by its successor British Cement Association, has been redrafted as four publications: Visual concrete – Planning and assessment; Visual concrete – Finishes; Visual concrete – Control of blemishes; and Visual concrete – Weathering, stains & efflorescence.
 
This publication deals with the identification of typical blemishes associated with both formed and unformed visual concrete finishes.
